Azahar Mexican Kitchen

The brief. A modern Mexican kitchen and bar. The brief asked for a room that reads contemporary-Latin-American without folkloric cliché handcrafted clay, brass, hand-painted accents, and a bar that the room is built around.

Challenge

Creating a restaurant that feels authentically inspired by Mexican culture while maintaining a contemporary and sophisticated identity. The objective was to avoid stereotypical visual elements and instead develop a timeless environment built around materiality, spatial flow, and guest experience.
The challenge was to balance cultural storytelling with modern design principles, ensuring the space remained visually striking, operationally efficient, and commercially appealing. Contemporary Mexican hospitality projects often seek this balance between heritage and modernity.

Solution

Our approach centered around a curated palette of terracotta finishes, dark timber accents, handcrafted textures, and architectural lighting. The restaurant was organized around a strong central bar concept, creating a natural focal point while encouraging social interaction throughout the space.
Custom design details, layered materials, and carefully planned sightlines transformed the interior into an immersive dining environment that feels both intimate and dramatic. Warm tones and natural materials were used to create an atmosphere that is inviting, memorable, and aligned with the brand vision.
